Case Management for the Healthcare and Gerontology Professional

Short-Term Certificate

Case managers typically work as part of a team to assess, plan, coordinate, implement, monitor and evaluate options and services to meet people’s health and human service needs. 

Case managers provide support for families in a wide variety of fields including behavioral health, rehabilitation, social work agencies, public health agencies, forensics and addiction services. They assist other workers, such as social workers, and help clients find benefits or community services.

Can I take classes online or face-to-face?

Students can complete the fire science technology associate degree online except for the hands-on firefighter training, which is offered in person at one of our partner locations: C-TEC or The Ohio Fire Academy. The fire science technology associate degree offers both in person and online courses. 

What type of financial assistance is available to help me pay for college? 

COTC awards more than $1 million in scholarships to students each year.

Every student is encouraged to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered for grants, scholarships, and loans. 

Students who complete a FAFSA are automatically considered for some scholarships. Other scholarships require an application.

Can I pursue a bachelor’s degree after I complete the associate degree?

Students interested in continuing their education to pursue a bachelor’s degree can consider transferring to a four-year college or university. COTC has a transfer agreement with the University of Cincinnati.

COTC’s peace officer basic training academy exceeds the requirements of the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission and positions students to excel on the state certification exam to become a peace officer in Ohio. Graduates also earn credits toward an associate degree in law enforcement technology.

Newark Campus Housing

On-Campus Housing

Central Ohio Technical College students are eligible to apply for on-campus housing provided by The Ohio State University at Newark. Housing is limited and awarded by a lottery system. Applying does not guarantee acceptance. Housing contracts are processed according to students’ date of admission to the college/university. To enter the housing lottery, you must submit a contract, a space reservation fee and a nonrefundable housing filing fee by the deadline (late April).
