COTC Website Wins Regional Design Award

The Medallions, awarded by the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR), recognize outstanding achievement in design and communication at community and technical colleges in each of NCMPR’s seven districts. COTC was awarded the silver Medallion in NCMPR’s District 3, which includes community and technical colleges in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin and Ontario.

Nominations Sought for Diversity and Inclusion Champion Award

The Community Intercultural Relations Committee is accepting nominations for the Diversity and Inclusion Champion Award. This award recognizes individuals and businesses from Licking County for implementing, improving or supporting diversity and inclusion (D&I) initiatives. Nominations will be accepted through March 1.

Healthcare and IT Options Grow

Earn a degree or certificate in some of Ohio’s fastest-growing fields and get started in a fulfilling career you’ll love. Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) has expanded career-ready programs in healthcare, IT and digital media that can be completed in full at its Pataskala campus, located at 8660 E. Broad Street. The campus underwent a $4.2 million renovation last year, bringing a new nursing and allied health skills lab, science and computer labs, classroom and academic support spaces, and student collaboration spaces to the completely renovated facility.

COTC Offers First Bachelor’s Degree

Applications now open for Diagnostic Medical Sonography Technology

Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) is launching its first bachelor’s degree program to meet workforce demand in the central Ohio region. The Bachelor of Applied Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (BAS in DMS) prepares students for careers as registered sonographers. This is a selective, competitive program. Applicants must first apply to COTC and then complete the DMS program application by Aug. 15.

COTC to Offer Practical Nursing Certificate in Mount Vernon Summer Semester

Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) will begin offering its in-demand practical nursing certificate at the college’s Knox campus in downtown Mount Vernon this summer. Classes will start on May 16. The practical nursing certificate program can be completed in one year (three semesters). Graduates of the program are prepared to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN) to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN).

COTC/Ohio State Newark Appoint First Chief Diversity Officer/DEI Director

Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) and The Ohio State University at Newark announce the appointment of Brianna Davis Johnson, PhD, as the institutions’ first chief diversity officer/diversity, equity and inclusion director. The new position is shared by the two institutions and will report directly to the COTC president and the Ohio State Newark dean and director. Johnson assumed her role on Jan. 3.

Book Signing with Local Author

Utica resident and Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) alumnus Dan Long Jr. is the author of two fiction books. The first, The Conflict Within: The Second American Civil War, was released in 2017 for young adults. The second, The Season of Change, was released earlier this year. He will hold a book signing for both books on Jan. 10, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Barnes & Noble bookstore on the college’s Newark campus.

COTC Honors Mark Ramser with Legends of Loyalty Award

Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) recognized Mount Vernon resident Mark Ramser with the college’s Legends of Loyalty award during a recent Knox Campus Town Hall and presidential reception celebrating COTC’s 50th Anniversary. The Legends of Loyalty award, the highest honor bestowed by the college, was established in 2011 to recognize individuals who have impacted the college through their selfless service and unwavering support.
