GED Process

  • COTC’s Coshocton Campus is the official GED Test Site (Pearson VUE certified) for Coshocton County.
  • GED testing is typically scheduled for the first Thursday of each month.
  • Students needs to be at the testing site – Room 444 – at 8:30 a.m., with testing starting at 9.
  • A photo ID is required to take the test. Completion time depends on the number of subjects taken.
  • If needing to reschedule after already registered for a testing group, the student is responsible for making arrangements with GED Testing Service at 877.392.6433 prior to the day of testing. If done in advance, the student can likely test the next month instead without repayment.

GED Registration

Many of the 12 monthly GED testing seats at COTC Coshocton are filled with students from the ABLE Program at Coshocton County Job & Family Services, and enrolled students are guided through the registration process when ready to test. However, seats are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis, so individuals wanting to take the test on their own can do so by completing the following steps (have an established e-mail address and photo ID ready beforehand):

  1.  Sign up for an Ohio SAFE Account user name and password through the Ohio Department of Education.
  2.  After SAFE Account registration is finalized (via e-mail confirmation), go to GED.com and sign up for a MyGED page
  3. To obtain a voucher number to help pay for the test (first time only in each subject), agree to voucher participation on the MyGED registration, then later contact one of the listed Career Technical Planning Districts (CTPDs) to acquire the voucher.
  4. Register to take the test at COTC Coshocton via your MyGED page. If a voucher number was obtained, enter it at the payment screen before making the remainder of the payment with a debit or credit card. The entire test consists of four subjects (Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies) and costs $30 per subject. Students do not have to take all of the subjects the same day.
  5.  After taking the test, view results within 24 hours on your MyGED page.  The official GED Ready practice test is also available to take on your page for $6 per subject.

Braden Patchett

From Waiter to Engineer in Two Years, Internship Yields Big Results for COTC Alumnu

Alumni Braden Patchett

Before enrolling at COTC, Braden Patchett already had a long work history in the restaurant business. But for the St. Louisville resident, all those years amounted to only one thing—employment that was just a “J.O.B.” leaving him “Just Over Broke.” At least, that’s how Patchett unashamedly describes his less-than-ideal experiences in the unskilled workforce. Feeling trapped in lower-paying service jobs with no path toward advancement, Patchett was getting by, but not thriving, he admits. Moreover, he was haunted.

Frequently Asked Questions

I applied to COTC. Is that the same as applying to the LPN to ADN program?

No. The LPN to ADN program is a competitive, selective healthcare program. Students first apply to COTC (the college) and indicate interest in a health technologies program (or apply to a pre-health track). Then students complete a separate application to apply to the LPN to ADN program.

How do I learn about the application process for the LPN to ADN program?

Students interested in the LPN to ADN program must register and attend an information meeting

What are the requirements to apply to the LPN to ADN program?

Pre-requisite classes must be completed

There are classes students must take, have taken or can be awarded transfer credit for – before they can apply to the LPN to ADN program:

  • MATH 130: Introduction to Statistics
  • BIO 130: Anatomy & Physiology I
  • PSY 100: Introduction to Psychology

Students who have taken the courses or receive transfer credit for the courses must have received a grade C or higher.

Health Selection Exam

Students must complete the HESI exam for the LPN to ADN program. View more information about the HESI exam, how to register, and the cost here.

LPN License

A student applying to the LPN to ADN program must have the unencumbered Ohio LPN license with meds approval. Students that have scheduled to take the NCLEX-PN can apply with proof of registration as long as the test date is prior to the start of the semester. Results showing licensure must be submitted prior to first day of the semester of admission.

Transcripts

Students must submit official high school transcript with graduation date or official GED transcript. High school seniors must send a current transcript during their senior year and a final transcript after graduation. Additionally, official transcripts from all career centers, colleges, and universities attended past and current with GPA must be sent. ALL foreign transcripts (high school and colleges) must be evaluated by a NACES Member- www.naces.org.

When are applications for the LPN to ADN program available/due?

Applications are typically available one month prior to the deadline. Request the application from your assigned advisor or email cotcadvising@mail.cotc.edu.

Can I take classes online or face-to-face?

Students will be required to take classes on campus for the LPN to ADN program. Some general education courses may be available online, but students should plan to be on campus to use equipment and engage in hands-on learning.

What type of financial assistance is available to help me pay for college?

COTC awards more than $1 million in scholarships to students each year.

Every student is encouraged to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered for grants, scholarships and loans.

Students who complete a FAFSA are automatically considered for some scholarships. Other scholarships require an application.
