Investing in our facilities to expand opportunities for our students
Newark Campus
The 60,000-square-foot John and Mary Alford Center for Science and Technology (pictured) opened for classes in autumn 2021, bringing a health science simulation center to the campus. This multi-disciplinary space, mirroring an acute care hospital, contains two patient rooms, an emergency room and an operating room with an adjoining scrub-in station so COTC students can experience various “real life” medical scenarios in a learning environment.
Founders Hall, the college’s oldest and largest building, is closed for a $23 million dollar renovation to transform the building into a modern, welcoming facility emphasizing openness and natural light. With an increased focus on high-quality teaching, learning and co-curricular environments, the renovated facility will become an inviting location for study and engagement, offering a multitude of exciting future possibilities when it reopens in 2024.
Pataskala Campus
The Pataskala campus reopened for classes in autumn 2021 after a $4.2 million renovation including new high-tech laboratory, classroom and academic support spaces. The addition of nursing and allied health, science, and computer labs enables COTC to expand academic offerings in healthcare and information technology, and now offers several transfer degrees and career-ready associate degrees and certificates in full at the Pataskala campus, with more programs on the way. Individual general education courses for COTC’s 50+ programs or transfer-friendly credit to other state universities are also available.
Accreditation Information
National Accreditation
The AAS Early Childhood Education Technology Program at Central Ohio Technical College is accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation of Early Childhood Higher Education Programs of the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The current accreditation term runs from November 2019 through July 2024.
HECC Cross-Registration Program
The Higher Education Council of Columbus (HECC) has set up a system of cross-registration for regularly enrolled, full-time undergraduate students at participating colleges and universities in and around Franklin County.
The primary objective of cross-registration is to allow a student to be exposed to an area of study unavailable at COTC without having to seek admission to another institution as a transient or part-time student. Cross-registration allows a student who wants to enrich his/her educational experience to register at one of the other HECC member institutions on a space-available basis for certain credit courses not available at COTC. Some Associate of Arts and/or Associate of Science concentration plans of study require students to complete a course at another institution (course share) in order to complete the program. HECC provides an opportunity for students to complete these requirements at no cost. Please note that each HECC participating institution will have specific dates for when they begin accepting cross-registered students.
