College Credit Plus Scholarship
This scholarship was established by COTC as an opportunity for College Credit Plus (CCP) students to continue taking classes at COTC after high school graduation. Students can be awarded $1,500 for two semesters each academic year for a total annual award of $3,000.

Many students want to pursue a bachelor’s degree but choose to begin their college education by completing a transfer degree at a community college. Transfer degrees, such as the Associate of Arts and the Associate of Science, are designed to allow students to begin their bachelor’s degree and transfer their courses to a four-year university to continue their education.

Associate of Science
The Associate of Science (AS) offers students the opportunity to complete the first two years of a bachelor’s degree at relatively low cost and to transfer seamlessly to any public college or university in the state of Ohio. Students pursuing the AS may take courses that fit a variety of four-year major pathways. The state has created Ohio Guaranteed Transfer Pathways where students can choose areas of concentration within the AS.

Associate of Applied Science in Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology
Mechanical engineering technicians make thermofluid, mechanical and hydraulic systems work and keep them working. These technicians play key roles in many aspects of today’s highly technical environment, especially in the emerging area of green technologies. Learn in the classroom and in hands-on laboratories that use a mixture of actual components and computer simulations. Students may also focus on energy efficiency, alternative and renewable energy sources, and lean manufacturing.

What are examples or types of technical rescue?
Technical rescue includes:
- Rope rescue
- Confined space rescue
- Vehicle/machinery rescue
- Structural collapse rescue

What does “high risk/low frequency” mean?
There is greater risk or increased danger involved in performing technical rescue, and the need for technical rescue doesn’t occur frequently or often.

Can I take classes online or face-to-face?
The fire science technical rescue associate degree program includes hands-on learning and some classes are taken face-to-face. There are some online courses that can be taken as part of the fire science technical rescue program.
What type of financial assistance is available to help me pay for college?
COTC awards more than $1 million in scholarships to students each year.
Every student is encouraged to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered for grants, scholarships and loans.
Students who complete a FAFSA are automatically considered for some scholarships. Other scholarships require an application.
