While she knew she wanted to pursue a career in healthcare, Melanie Gibson hasn’t had a straight path to her dream position. Gibson is a currently pursuing her associate degree in nursing at Central Ohio Technical College (COTC), but it wasn’t her first stop on her educational journey.

Join Central Ohio Technical College and The Ohio State University at Newark for a lunch featuring global cuisine. Local speakers will present and share information and personal stories about immigration to central Ohio in the past and present. This event is part of the Buckeye Valley Family YMCA Welcoming Week.
J. Gilbert Reese Next Generation Community Leadership Award
The award is presented annually to one COTC student and one Ohio State Newark student annually in November. Each recipient receives a framed certificate, and a $2,000 scholarship is applied to their tuition for the following spring semester.
