High School Options Orientation
Hello College Credit Plus Student!
Welcome to Central Ohio Technical College. It is our privilege to be a part of your educational journey. We are excited you have chosen to participate in Ohio’s College Credit Plus (CCP) program and are taking advantage of the opportunity to earn both high school and college credit giving you a jump start toward your future. You will be assigned an advisor as a resource to assist you in answering questions, scheduling classes and guiding you through this college experience.
You are now a COTC student and have a COTC email account which gives you access to the my COTC student portal where you have access to a multitude of resources that will be reviewed during your orientation where you will learn of a variety of other support services such as free tutoring, math and writing labs, career advising and the Office for Disability Services. A complete listing of resources is available on the COTC website under Campus Life – Student Support.
Once an email account is created, you will be notified via the email address provided on your application. This email will include instructions to log-in to your myCOTC account. Your COTC email account is the official method of communication between you and the college so be sure to check it regularly.
Your next steps depend on the CCP option you are participating in with COTC:
OPTION A & B Students (Students taking course(s) in their high school): Your COTC Admissions Representative will be visiting your classroom this spring to collect your Intent to Participate form and official high school transcript from your guidance counselor and to register you for classes. A new student orientation will be provided to you when your class begins next academic year.
OPTION C Students (Students attending classes on a COTC campus or online): You will need to complete a new student orientation. Please contact The Gateway and be sure to identify yourself as a CCP student. This orientation session will provide you with an overview of the college, information about resources available to support your success and you will register for classes with your COTC Academic Advisor.
All student must meet registration requirements before scheduling classes and prior to attending New Student Orientation.
Registration requirements include:
- Official high school transcripts (in a signed, sealed envelope from HS)
- College Credit Plus Intent to Participate Form (from high school)
- Placement assessment (ACT/SAT/COMPASS)
- OPTION C STUDENTS: Attend New Student Orientation during the summer
Further details and information will be shared in the near future regarding your next steps with COTC. Until then, if you have questions, please contact The Gateway at 740.366.9222 or cotcgateway@cotc.edu.
Upon completion of the CCP course, you will have a COTC college transcript. You can request a copy of your transcript through your my COTC account or you can download the form from the COTC website on the Admissions page.
NOTE: CCP students are admitted to COTC as non-degree seeking. While participation in this program does mean you are accepted to COTC, it does not guarantee admission into associate degree programs. Students will need to follow established program admission requirements for selective COTC programs.
Thank you for choosing COTC! I encourage you to contact us if you have questions or need any additional information.
Sincerely,
Your COTC Admissions Team
