Donor Spotlight
Our donors have a tremendous impact on the quality of our programs, teaching and facilities. The campus has a history of community and alumni support, which has been a great factor in its growth and development.
A History of Giving
In 1966, the Newark community embarked on a fundraising campaign to establish a permanent state-owned building for The Ohio State University’s Newark branch that would make available both day and evening classes for local students. More than 7,000 Licking County contributors pledged funds in excess of $1 million, far exceeding the local campaign goal of $625,000. Founders Hall was constructed as the first building on the Newark campus, and Central Ohio Technical College joined the campus as a co-located partner in 1971.
Frequently Asked Questions
How quickly can I complete the respiratory therapy technology associate degree?
Students who enroll full time will complete the respiratory therapy technology associate degree in two years.
Can I take classes online or face-to-face?
Students are required to take classes on campus for the respiratory therapy program. Some general education courses may be available online, but students should plan to be on campus to use equipment and engage in hands-on learning.
What financial assistance is available to help me pay for college?
COTC awards more than $1 million in scholarships to students each year.
Every student is encouraged to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid(FAFSA) to be considered for grants, scholarships and loans. Students who complete the FAFSA are automatically considered for some scholarships. Other scholarships require an application.

Apply for Financial Aid
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
COTC uses the FAFSA form to determine how much financial aid you’re eligible to receive, which could include grants, scholarships, work-study and loans. We encourage all students to complete the FAFSA. In most cases, you are eligible for some type of federal financial aid regardless of income. You must complete a FAFSA each academic you plan to enroll in classes.
