Degrees & Certificates

Overview

COTC’s Licensed Practical Nursing to Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program is for currently licensed practical nurses (LPNs) who  are looking to advance their nursing career by earning an associate degree in nursing and becoming eligible for the registered nurse (RN) licensure exam.

Registered nurses (RNs) are an integral part of a healthcare team. RNs typically administer medication, treatments and offer educational advice to patients. RNs often supervise LPNs.  COTC graduates of the LPN to ADN program are ready to be hired for entry-level RN positions in a variety of healthcare facilities. You will also be prepared to continue your education if you choose to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

According to the Department of Labor, RNs are projected to create the second largest number of new jobs among all occupations. Thousands of job openings will result from the need to replace experienced nurses who leave the occupation, especially as the median age of the RN population continues to rise.

By completing this degree, you

  • Learn the knowledge and skills to be successful in a nursing career
  • Gain hands-on clinical experience with affiliated healthcare facilities in central and east-central Ohio
  • Build a strong foundation to continue your education and pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Licensure

Graduates are awarded an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing Technology and are eligible to apply to take the licensing exam, National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN), to become registered nurses (RNs).
