Overview
An Associate of Arts provides a well-rounded education covering general education and interdisciplinary courses. With a concentration in sociology, you will also take several sociology or sociology-related courses, including cultural diversity, family systems, social psychology and more. After completing their degree, you will have a guaranteed transfer path to several public Ohio universities.

Course Share Information
The Associate of Arts in Sociology plan of study requires you complete a course at another institution (course share) in order to complete the program. The Higher Education Council of Columbus (HECC) has set up a system of cross-registration for regularly enrolled, full-time undergraduate students at participating colleges and universities in and around Franklin County. Cross-registration allows you to register at one of the other HECC member institutions on a space-available basis for certain credit courses not available at COTC.
Transfer Options
COTC’s Associate of Arts is designed to allow graduates to move seamlessly to bachelor’s degree programs at all state-supported colleges and universities in the state of Ohio, as well as at many private institutions. In fact, every course on the AA plan of study is fully transferable to any school that accepts the Ohio Transfer Module or Transfer Assurance Guides.

Can I take classes online or face-to-face?
At COTC, you have the flexibility to take classes face-to-face and online.
What financial assistance is available to help me pay for college?
COTC awards more than $1 million in scholarships to students each year.
Every student is encouraged to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered for grants, scholarships and loans. Students who complete the FAFSA are automatically considered for some scholarships. Other scholarships require an application.
