Associate of Applied Business
Overview
The Associate of Applied Business (AAB) in Business Management Technology at COTC is a fully accredited online program and requires you to take a variety of courses in the areas of human resources, marketing, management and entrepreneurship to prepare for today’s business world.
With this degree you’ll be ready to start your career right away, and you’ll also be prepared to continue your education if you choose to pursue a bachelor’s degree.
Electives
As part of the business program, you have an opportunity to choose elective courses to earn a certificate in a specific area of study while pursuing your associate degree. The electives you can choose from are:

- management
- office administration
License/Credentialing Eligibility
- The human resource courses in the business program align with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) certification.
- The office administration certificate aligns with the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) – Certified Administrative Professional Certificate.
- The management certificate aligns with the Institute of Certified Professional Managers (ICPM) – Certified Manager Certificate.

The purpose of the Business Management Technology program is to prepare qualified individuals for management, human resources, marketing, customer relations and sales, entrepreneurship, and administrative assistant level positions in a wide variety of business settings and organizations.

Students who know they want to pursue a bachelor’s degree in business can also consider completing the Associate of Science in Business. The AS in Business is intended to transfer to any public, four-year college or university in Ohio. You should only pursue the AS in Business if you know you want to continue to a bachelor’s degree.

What is the difference between the Associate of Applied Business in Business Management Technology and the Associate of Science in Business?
The Associate of Applied Business in Business Management Technology prepares you to enter the workforce immediately after graduation. If you decide to continue your education for a bachelor’s degree, your credits will transfer to universities with which COTC has an articulation agreement (see Transfer Options above).
The Associate of Science in Business is a transfer degree that prepares you to continue your education for a bachelor’s degree immediately after graduation. Your credits will transfer to all public four-year institutions in Ohio.

What financial assistance is available to help me pay for college?
COTC awards more than $1 million in scholarships to students each year.
Every student is encouraged to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered for grants, scholarships and loans. Students who complete the FAFSA are automatically considered for some scholarships. Other scholarships require an application.
