On Wednesday, April 24, Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) hosted COTC Illuminated, an event which held the exclusive premiere of the Viewpoint television series featuring COTC, as well as the unveiling of the college’s new mascot.

TC a blue cat with a yellow cape appears on stage next to COTC President John Berry in front of an audience.

This event was a culmination of efforts put forth by dedicated COTC faculty and staff, including those interviewed for the Viewpoint segment, as well as the hard work in conceptualizing and bringing to life a new mascot.

“It is an honor and a pleasure to share the important work the two-year college network plays in the development of individual lives and collective workforce system,” says COTC President John M. Berry, PhD. “Being able to share our COTC profile through the Viewpoint program as a microcosm of the exceptional work being conducted by two-year colleges across the country has certainly been thrilling. We all live by the mantra of changing lives and building communities.”

The second part of the program was the unveiling of COTC’s new mascot: TC the cat. TC is the physical manifestation and reflection of COTC’s values and missions. TC stands for TechCare Catalyst, which embodies the technical, protective and caring attributes of the college, as well as the different ways in which we serve our communities. COTC acts as that catalyst for our students, transforming their lives, their families and the community at large.

“It is with this important mission in mind that COTC developed its new vision of identity through the creation of a mascot,” explains President Berry. “Our new mascot will reflect the profile of our student population and will also embody COTC’s spirit of innovation, resilience and commitment. Our students and the college are catalysts for positive change and our new mascot will represent that spirit.”

Those near COTC’s Newark campus are encouraged to visit and keep an eye out for TC at various events. They will also be making regular appearances on various social media channels for those curious to learn more about this new member of the COTC family.

COTC is a fully accredited, public college dedicated to providing high-quality, accessible programs of technical education in response to current and emerging employment needs. COTC has four campus locations: Newark, Coshocton, Knox and Pataskala.
